the wind in the willows

“The most priceless possession of the human race
is the wonder of the world. Yet, latterly, the utmost endeavours
of mankind have been directed towards the dissipation of that wonder.”

  1. When I was very little, about 6 or 7 I had a very large picture book of The Wind in the Willows. A few years ago, I was able to find a copy of it. I have loved those characters ever since.

    • I was given an English language copy as a present when I was 10 years old when we were living in a small village in France by our kind neighbours. Even then I recognized the beauty of Grahame’s writing. I still have and treasure that copy…

  2. “To me every hour of the day and night is an unspeakably perfect miracle.” ~ Walt Whitman
