Welcome to NIGHTPOETRY! I am an American poet, archaeologist, photographer and musician who has worked and lived in Europe for more than 38 years. I attended university in the United States taking a B.A. degree with a major in English Literature and Creative Writing. My interests are many and varied, ranging from scientific studies, literature, poetry, music, art, archaeology and astronomy to traveling and immersing myself in European culture.ย  In my spare time I have doubled as a roadie for a number of groups and performed in many bands through the years, lots of blues, jazz and rock and presently I am the lead singer in a Doors tribute band and am the co-founder of the jazz-poetry ensemble called NIGHTPOETS that is currently hibernating. On this blog you will find a potpourri of my poetry, prose, photography, archaeological endeavours, musical undertakings, perspectives, thoughts, insights and a smattering of liberal politics. All of the poetry and, unless otherwise credited, all of the photography and digital images are my own creations. Thanks for stopping by….ย

It was a pleasure to talk to you today, I am immersing myself in your poetry right now and I enjoy reading your inspiring thoughts, verses and photography (as my native language is german, I sometimes have to read it several times to catch the point :-))

Thank you very much for sharing this gift!

I don’t always comment, but I do enjoy this site – from the photos you take to the verses you write, and those of others that you post. You’re living my dream (being an American living in Paris), I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Ah Karen, thank you so much for your kind words. I scrape together every cent I can spare to spend as much time here as possible. Unfortunately, I do not live here for most of the year. I am fortunate in that I only live 4 hour train ride away. I had to work hard my whole life to pay the rent, loved the last job I had for 29 years, but now I am trying to make up for all the lost time when after work when I was too tired to write. I need to win some sort of lottery…๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. Hello, I nominated you for the Liebster Award!! Please check out my post https://serendipitousdrabbling.wordpress.com/2016/01/07/102-liebster-award/ for further details. Please let me know if you will accept the Award ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you so much the honour and your kind praise, unfortunately I just do not have the time at the moment to do all the things required to get the award (finding the 11 blogs, informing them, thinking up and asking 11 questions etc.). Perhaps when things slow down a bit I can find the time later, but right now, meeting the requirements for the award just isn’t possible. I sincerely thank you for the consideration and hope that you will understand…

      • That’s quite alright! I’m just glad that I could give you some direct acknowledgement that your blog is wonderful ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback. I don’t usually have the time to check everyone who visits my blog, but I have liked what I have seen of your writing, especially Melancholia is the Heartโ€™s Ice. Thanks again for your support. And keep up your good work…

      • Same to you. Can’t wait to see new posts from you soon!
