EXAGGERATION

“We exaggerate misfortune and happiness alike.
We are never as bad off or as happy as we say we are.”

  1. In it’s infinite wisdom the Social Security Administration has decided that I am dead and has stopped my payments. I now get to do a nice little song and dance to prove to them that I am alive. And perhaps someday in the not too distant future I will be able to pay the rent and eat again…

    • Myself and about 4000 other Expat American retirees living in Europe were declared dead by the Social Security Administration and their payments stopped with no explanation. I only found out the reason because I called the American Consulate. Now each person has to pay (in my case over $10.00) for a certificate issued by the city they reside in verifying that they are alive and send that in. And hope that at some future date they will once again receive their benefits. Welcome to the wonderful world of Making America Great Again…

      • Me too. But it does no good to pressure anyone. SSA doesn’t give a shit and the poor lady at the Consulate is overwhelmed with outraged retirees and has to translate and forward all those documents. I did what I was requested to do, now all I can do is wait…

  3. Excellent quote so true my friend
