  1. This is a detail photo of the inside of a stone Roman cellar wall made to look like bricks with a coating of white wall plaster separated by red lines applied with a fresco technique. Each stone was bordered with plaster, then, once the entire wall was plastered in this way, the lines were made using a special wooden utensil and the red colour was applied. The fresco technique has preserved the red colouring over the last 1900 years.
