Memory holds many things, the most frustrating among them is doubt. What I love about this piece is how you eloquently communicate that facet. It’s beautifully written. We choose to believe what we have the power to recall or recall incorrectly. This is evocative to me and a bit poignant. Amazing writing, dear poet.
Thank you Lucy for your kind words. This is another poem dug out of the dusty archives of long ago. Our memories are like an unfinished painting, that we are always adding to, subtracting from and mixing the colours anew. The reality of our experiences gets lost in the bias of our perception. Things remembered are never what they really were. And thank you for always taking the time to read my blog…
“Truth is beautiful, without doubt; but so are lies.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
