When I first took this photo some twenty-three years ago,
it profoundly moved me. Humankind’s inhumanity to their
own species is horrible enough, but our inhumanity towards
all life should make us seriously question our own morality
as a species. Sadly the answer to that question is very ugly…

  1. Brilliantly written and incredibly sad, but true.

  2. “For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.” ~ Pythagoras

As our consciousness raises collectively, factory farms and cattle raising will diminish. People say “impossible” yet surely and steadily more people are turning to a vegan style of eating.

      • Although our eating habits are inevitably tied in with how we treat the animals we consume, I was specifically referring here to animals that are not normally on our meal menus. For the majority of people in the world, primates, elephants, rhinos, hippos, seals, dolphins and bears etc. are not served up at dinnertime. We hold animals captive against their will, putting mammals, reptiles and amphibians behind bars in zoos, we imprison birds in cages and fish in tanks or make all of these creatures perform for our perverse amusement in circuses or aquatic venues without the slightest thought about their feelings, their emotions and their well being. Small wonder then that we allow a terrorist organization to buy and bribe our politicians and continue to provide our citizenry with high caliber weapons of war so that, for love of money, out of fear and with no respect for the lives of our fellow humans, we can continue to slaughter innocent people, and most pathetically of all, our own children. When we have so little respect for our own lives, small wonder then that we have none for other species…
